Round rods remain the most popular profile for drapery hardware, and proper sizing ensures both visual proportion and functional performance. This guide covers standard dimensions for Morgik round rods and coordinating rings.

Standard Round Rod Diameters

3/8 – 3/4″ Diameter – Delicate scale for small windows, lightweight fabrics, and secondary treatments. Maximum unsupported span approximately 36″.
1″ Diameter – Versatile standard size suitable for most residential applications. Maximum unsupported span approximately 48″.
1⅛” Diameter – Popular choice balancing presence with restraint. Maximum unsupported span approximately 54″.
1¼” Diameter – Substantial scale for larger windows and heavier treatments. Maximum unsupported span approximately 60″.
1½” Diameter – Commanding presence for tall windows and formal installations. Maximum unsupported span approximately 72″.
2″ Diameter – Dramatic scale for grand windows and architectural statements. Maximum unsupported span approximately 84″.

Ring Sizing for Round Rods

Ring inside diameter must exceed rod outside diameter for smooth sliding. Our rings are sized with appropriate clearance accounting for finish thickness.

Standard pairings:

¾” rod = 1″ ID ring
1″ rod = 1¼” ID ring
1¼” rod = 1½” ID ring
1½” rod = 1¾” ID ring
2″ rod = 2¼” ID ring

Span and Support Guidelines

Maximum spans assume moderate drapery weight. Heavy fabrics, interlined treatments, and multiple layers require closer bracket spacing. We can advise on support requirements for your specific installation.
